On Fridays from 18:30 – 20:00 we gather together in front of the city hall in Basel and take a stand against Putin’s outrageous war – for as long as it is necessary. Whether you come alone or in a group – being there is all that matters.

On Thursday, 24th February, the world as we all knew it ended, and a new, bloody chapter began – A WAR IN EUROPE! Ever since that morning people across the world have been following the tragic events in our homeland, outraged and in utter shock and sadness. Meanwhile, one day follows another, the war continues, and the gruesome images are now part of our daily lives. We vehemently condemn this atrocity and will not allow the state of war to become normality.

Our vigil is an opportunity to share worries and pain with each other, to comfort each other and to exchange information. It is encouraging to see how many Swiss people, but also people of other nationalities, are willing to show their solidarity with the people of Ukraine. Our vigil has already been joined by Germans, French, Spaniards, Latvians, Lithuanians, Crimean Tatars, Georgians, Azerbaijanis, Chechens, Iranians, Belarusians (this is not a complete list). Thank you very much for your support!
